Review on πŸ”Œ Edimax EW-7833UAC AC1750 Dual-Band Wi-Fi USB 3.0 Adapter, Compatible with Windows 7/8/8.1/10, Mac, and Linux, in White by Andy Thorson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Advertised at 1300 Mbps but that's a lie. Good product, not as fast as advertised.

If you are reading this review, you probably have the same or a similar problem as me. Speeds are not as advertised. They advertise speeds of up to 1300Mbps with 3 spatial streams in Wireless AC. Well I work in the wireless industry and use these devices for surveying, they work great for the price but they don't support the advertised speeds. If you look at the pictures I've attached, it turns out that this particular model, EW-7833UAC or Edimax AC1750, doesn't have a bandwidth of 1300 Mbps, rather its maximum bandwidth is 975 Mbps. This is not a driver issue, the latest driver from the Edimax support site is rev. 01.0.0.6, OS support: Windows 7/8/8.1/10, languages: English, date: 01/18/2017 (There are other OS versions with more recent dates). Clean install, different devices installed and tested, different wireless controller settings, and consumer grade wireless hardware resulting in the same speeds. If you're looking for 1300Mbps outside of this model, look elsewhere. If you're familiar with speeds of up to 975 Mbps and the capabilities of certain survey software or unique devices, then this is a good choice. It does what I need at the moment but I will be testing the next iteration of these devices and if they don't live up to the advertised speeds I'll send them back immediately for a refund.
