Review on Total Blackout Window Film Resistant by Tanya Helmbrecht

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Considerable blackout, nice view but not perfect

Bought this to complement the blackout curtains we have for the kids room. Because the windows faced west, we had a lot of light through the top of the curtain. I chose to only install on the top half of the window so we could look outside. Very pleased with how much darker this makes the room! And I'm incredibly happy that I can still open windows with film. My previous attempts at using paper meant that we could never open the windows. Also, it looks a lot better from the outside. I found it quite easy to install. I did it myself, but if I had to make more windows I'd probably get an extra pair of hands to help. Just trying to twist a wide slab by splashing water on the glass and slab was not easy, but possible. I followed the advice of the reviews (cut off the sheet a little more than the window, then cut off with a planer knife). But in the future I would probably use some construction paper to create an accurate template and cut to size and diameter more accurately. Because of this, we don't have full and perfect edge-to-edge coverage of the window (there are a few gaps at the edge). I think the only way to get PERFECT coverage is to find a solution that is a lot less temporary. Since I'm in the apartment, I'm glad that I can do it without much effort.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Some bugs
