Review on Simplicty Aluminum Crochet Hook Sizes by Carol Miller

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Safe to fly

I only needed size E. Well I figured - turns out I really needed size D and same day shipping so I have 8 now more hooks! (They're $10.76 today, which is still good. And same day shipping. Wow!) Most of my hooks are Boye brand and I love them. They are light, strong and smooth. I have some plastic poles because shortly after 9/11 it was difficult to get metal poles on planes ("Thirty dead in flight after a crochet-hook maniac goes mad over the amount of pretzels in his bag!"). Plastic is terrible and almost never entirely smooth; smooth. (Don't argue with me about this - I've had bad experiences!) I've never had a problem with Boye, and after crocheting a 4'x5' plaid I still haven't had a problem. If you think you might need a hook or two from the DK range, add them to your shopping cart. Check it out from time to time to see if the price is going down and catch it if it is. (My local craft stores sell this set for $10-$12, and if you get their coupons you can usually get it for less.)

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
