Review on Triple Head MAPP Torch Brass by David Pirlet

Hot Hot Hot But not for long

This was one of the hottest burner tips I have ever seen. It can soften metal to the point of bending, it can easily heat brass car radiators, and if your garage is cold in winter, it will heat it up perfectly. The last one was a joke but you must use it in a well ventilated area as it generates heat. Now for the cons: there is only one setting and it runs at full power all the time. This has a few downsides, for example if you are using small portable gas cylinders you have 7-10 minutes of runtime before emptying the full tank. It also means you don't have temperature control from the tip. It lights up at full power or off. If you try to adjust it from all the way down you will damage the tip itself due to heat concentration at the flame tip exit point and below. It only takes about 20 seconds to go from regular to incandescent at the tips of the tip. I've used it with both propane and mapp GAS and both work well with it. Keep in mind that if used with a manual cylinder, the cylinder will freeze to the bottom and this only lasts about 10 minutes.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
