Hub/adapter works well. I believe the blue LED is for low light use. Perhaps red would have been better to avoid "bright" light problems in darkened rooms (e.g. red-eye fly. Pun intentional). I gave this product four stars because of the 30cm cable which makes the hub/adapter a bit awkward to use. I'd rather have a USB-C port on the back edge of the hub so it connects flush to the computer (sold by others for a similar price). UPDATED: I have changed my rating to three stars and am returning the item. USB power specifications are not listed in the description. (They are in the brochure that came with the product.) The hub provides enough power to drive CD/DVD peripherals. I asked a provider who was very quick and pleasant to work with. A good product at a reasonable price if you don't need active USB ports.
