I rate this with 5 stars because the device is so good that you can get it for the money. Of course you could have more expensive fittings etc for more money but they are not really needed unless you are going to be constantly moving and reassembling. a 12 year old system that has never caused any problems other than a UV leak two weeks ago. Of course I could only change the UV, but it's time for a completely new system. As far as I know, complaints about the clarity of the instructions are unfounded. I replaced a similar unit (different brand) but there were no reused parts from the old system other than the metal fitting on the cold water line which still required a new compression fitting. The only difficulty with the instructions was the slightly modified exhaust valve which was not closed but was easy to understand and install. . It's well documented in the manual and on YouTube, but I still managed to lick it once, which was disconcerting as I'd already held the device against a cupboard wall and it was now full of water and quite heavy. Insert these tubes into the HART fitting so you can feel it go through the last 3/8 inch. PRO vs old unit: 1. Very very nice that they pre-assembled the filter part which will probably save you 45 minutes.2. Colored piping diagram simplifies assembly and troubleshooting.3. About twice as much water comes out of the faucet, which is handy when filling a coffee pot.4. Additional filters included. Disadvantages compared to the old device: 1. Does not contain UV sanitizer and they double what you need in the instructions if you have the possibility of microbial contamination. If you're using city water, you probably don't need it, but those of us who live in the country will.2. Not a single claim to the best-selling device. Good quality. I'm almost 75 years old and I'm assembling this by myself. I'm blind in one eye, a little decrepit, and have a hard time crouching for long periods of time and, worse, trying to crawl out from under the sink. I'm sure it took me twice as long as most people, but the result was worth it. I like the color coded pipe, it's easy to see where everything goes and where it's coming from under the sink. Suggestions to simplify assembly: 1. Install the faucet first, leaving the pipe at its full length2. Install the inlet line from the cold water line, leaving the line full length3. Install the tank, full length pipe4. Install the drain pipe cut to length as the connection to the sink drain pipe is further forward.5. Place a large rectangular plastic tray in front of the cabinet and mount the connectors there so you can power it up and check for leaks before hanging the unit on the cabinet wall. This allows you to easily spot and fix leaks without creating a puddle under the sink.
