Pro (2012) and my Dell laptop. I set up two monitors for an extended desktop using a vertical stand for both computers. I bought this dock because it was affordable and it had multiple USB ports so I don't have to disconnect a lot of things when I need to use my Dell instead of a Mac. I don't use them for work, but sometimes I just need a PC for things my Mac has trouble with. Pros: Everything works with both laptops, once I get all the settings right it remembers my settings when I connect the dock. . I just need to change where the USB 3.0 cable is connected. The displays look great and I have no problem getting the resolution right. Some people lose connection and others experience a lot of flickering. The display link worked to fix this; They've now released a driver that allows you to use Airplay to connect to a dock-connected display (as a clone, or as a separate display if you're using the built-in as one). I have a 2012 Mac so I'm using the Thunderbolt/mini display port to HDMI adapter, you may have USB C and probably more options (adapters) than I have for fixes. Here's my solution for running an extended desktop display for Mac with the ability to switch to a separate computer without having to plug and unplug anything (other than a USB 3 cable). Just a note that I usually need an extra try to connect Airplay as a separate display. Once it does, it will remember the settings if your resolution doesn't show up in the "Scaling" options. It works for me, as you can see there are lots of cables but not everyone has the same amount of devices plugged in as I have. If you don't have a second computer you don't need to once a switch, just a second cable from your mac to your monitor.An additional solution (if you made it that far down) is to revert to a 10.13.3 snapshot for macOS.It's much easier, if you have a time Use machine backup. I couldn't do this because I use the dock to connect to my external hard drive, which I needed to back up before reformatting to use as a time machine backup. If you definitely don't want to spend $200 on a Thunderbolt dock or any other dock that doesn't do Display Link (almost all universal ones do, I've checked), you'll need to make a small adjustment by adding a add extra cable or if you customize my solution you can wait until Display Link can update the driver to work with 10.13.4 and later.
