Revainrating 5 out of 5

High Quality Hardware/Software

Just installed the FooKoo II HD rear camera system. This is the fourth backup system I have installed on my pickup. I've tried both wired and wireless networks and neither lasted more than a year. I chose this system because it was the only system in my study that received an overall rating of 5 stars. The quality of this system seems to be an order of magnitude better than any other system I've seen. The monitor is large, 7 inches diagonal, and it took me some time to find a mounting scheme that would not block the front view. It comes with two mounts, neither of which worked for me. Since there is a metal plate on the back of the monitor, I ended up using a magnetic phone mount, which works great. The instructions show two ways to connect the wires. 1) Connect the red wire to the reverse light and the black wire to ground, and 2) connect the red wire to the ignition switch wire and the black wire to ground. Neither of them use the green (trigger) wire. I connected the red wire to the wire that was only hot when the ignition was on and the green wire to the wire that went to the reverse lights. The system works as a rear view camera with parking lines when the truck is backing up and as a rear view camera when the truck is in a different gear. If I turn off the monitor while driving, it still turns on as a backup camera when the truck is backing up. The camera uses a very wide-angle lens. This is great for seeing things on both sides of your back path and reduces the chances of not seeing a pedestrian who might be coming from the side of your path. But it also means things are MUCH closer than they seem. That also means any vehicle more than 100 feet from the camera is too small to be seen. But I think it's just a matter of getting used to it. Overall I am very happy with this system. The quality of the camera, monitor and connection as well as the supporting software is pretty good and I expect it to last a long time.

Pros
  • ✔ Parking Assist: Trigger cable automatically launches CH2 channel screen with parking lines. Parking lines help you park safer and faster, no longer need someone to get out of your car to help you see the road or guide you.
Cons
  • Some nuances
