Review on Tiny Machine Learning Person Detection Bundle for Raspberry Pi Pico by UCTRONICS by Jared Tovar

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Fun, informative and inexpensive

I am very satisfied. That the LCD screen is so different from the one in Pico's book is the biggest problem; If you follow the UCTRONICS instructions, you download an entire library from the GitHub repository to use them, while the on-screen instructions in the book do not require a separate library and are much simpler. It would be nice if they could turn on a screen that better matches what's in the book. As another minor quibble, the packaging states that a spare set of full-size headers should be included, but there aren't any; it also shows that there is only one potentiometer in the kit instead of two - the picture on this Revain listing is more accurate than the packing list actually included in the box. But on top of that, there is more than enough material here to complete all of the other projects in the book, as well as any more complex ones that you might eventually come up with. As a seasoned software engineer, I've been trying to learn more about microcontrollers for a while, and this kit plus the Foundation's book made it relatively painless and cheap.

Pros
  • Beautiful packaging
Cons
  • For old
