This adapter is PERFECT for older cars with AUX inputs. It draws no power when the car is off, but starts up quickly when the car is turned on, and is declared "connected" when there is a paired device in the car. There's a low high-pitched squeak that's audible when nothing is playing, but barely noticeable when music is playing. It turns off quickly when the car is turned off and allows your phone to quickly switch to playing through the device's speakers. Telephoning via this socket depends on the device. My iPhone couldn't figure out how to route the audio into the car and hear my voice without sounding like I was in a tunnel. However, friends' phones (iPhone and Android) work fine, so older iPhones may find it difficult to deal with such an adapter). Great product with minimal setup
