Big Red Kit: Tools and Equipment

Minor problems. I think all of these inexpensive kits have plastic wherever possible. That'll be fine for my needs, but someone who uses the refill feature a lot might want better. For occasional use, maybe not every day. Good value for money. Description: No metal manifold or air block (unfortunately they don't specify how much shop air pressure the plastic shut off assembly == i.e. plastic splinters can handle). There are brass ball valves and brass fittings with a plastic cap that fits a plastic manifold and a venturi/air button tee that threads into it. Venturi is a brass fitting screwed into a plastic sleeve. The chunky vacuum fill assembly has plastic connections that can come loose and become too worn out after constant movement (I noticed when I picked it up that it was loose and I researched what/how it's made of. There are 5 caps that have a free landing to have ). Radiator sealing washer When it arrived I checked a couple of radiator caps. I took all the pieces of the kit I had used to the sink to rinse them out and when I went to put them back in the box, one washer was missing. I panicked. Somewhere in the radiators, in the engine bay, in the shop, in the grass, in the house, in the sink or in the gravel driveway, a washer was missing. I found it was stuck to one of the radiator cap adapters. Those loose washers can really ruin your day and they should be sending replacements until they figure out a way to make them more secure. I think I could make a washer out of an old hose. The guide is 4 pages printed on one (fine print and fingernail sized photos) with a very short list of header usage diagrams. I can't find YSToo's website to download a PDF for better printing, although I've found the Revain listing has more information than the instructions. Plastic plugs and their positions are numbered. The 2 heatsink adapters are made of stronger PA66 plastic. I wish they were metal like the kit I borrowed from the auto parts store. And it looks like this kit is just testing the old metal caps directly. The metal caps are steel with some aluminum spacers/gaskets for rubber grommets and washers. The reason I picked this kit and the star of the pack is the large piece of machined aluminum universal radiator neck adapter for $20 more. You also get an extra metal lid and a handy meat thermometer.

Pros
  • The YSTOOL Coolant Pressure and Fill Tool Kit is a versatile multi-tool kit. The radiator pressure tester can quickly determine whether there is an abnormal leak or not in 10 minutes. The Pneumatic Vacuum Coolant Fill Tool evacuates trapped air in minutes and fills coolant in 5-10 minutes without air bubbles. A stainless steel thermometer checks whether the coolant temperature is too high. Greatly improve vehicle performance and service life. Suitable for personal and business use
Cons
  • You could choose a newer model
