Review on BougeRV Waterproof Hitch Cargo Carrier Bag for Car, Truck, SUV, Vans - Ideal for Hitch Mount Cargo Bag, Hitch Trays, and Hitch Baskets (48'' L x 20'' W x 22'' H) by Michael Shim

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Just bought it and so far so good! Sequel follows.

After many hours of research I settled on this luggage bag which fits PERFECTLY my 48"L x 22"W hitch for my Jeep Wrangler - it wasn't too narrow nor too wide. Not wanting it to be a flexible bag, I followed Johnny B's review and built the inner frame out of 3/4" PVC tubing (4-44" long, 8-18" wide and high, 8-3 - barrel corner fittings) . The cost of a PVC pipe and PVC ratchet cutter was many times cheaper than buying a frame already made, not to mention the joy of cutting and assembling it yourself = huge! Once assembled it has enough room for my medium sized suitcase and 12 gallon bathtub and enough headroom for possibly a larger suitcase and other items. I got confused with the straps (which I'm still figuring out) so I bought some ratchet tie-down straps (which I'm also still figuring out) just to make sure everything is secure. I like that the bottom corners are reinforced and the top flap that covers the zipper feels wide enough to keep the weather out. I'm not sure how waterproof it will be, so I'll zip some things up or keep them in the car just in case. It comes with a bag for post-adventure storage, which is a nice touch. The material seems to be quite durable and I'm hoping it will hold up on my trip from Washington DC to Arizona this weekend. However, I'm concerned by the comments about the bag melting if it's too close to the exhaust pipe, so maybe I'll take some precautions. So far I am satisfied with my investment and can only give 4 stars based on my first observations. Once back from my trip I will provide an update on how the bag works.
