This was the perfect monopod for me and my Sony camcorder. I also have a Sony VCT-VPR1 tripod with remote control at hand. This is also a good tripod, but sometimes it's inconvenient to carry and set up. I hesitated to buy a monopod because I didn't want to give up the remote control in the tripod grip. This Koolehaoda doesn't have a remote control handle like the Sony tripod. However, the grips on both Koolehaoda and Sony are removable and interchangeable. I just swapped out the stock Koolehaoda Monopod Grip for a Sony Tripod Remote Grip and it works great. I now have a monopod with my favorite remote control grip; The best from both worlds. Since both grips are interchangeable, I can always return the grip to the Sony tripod when I need to use the tripod. That gives me maximum flexibility.
