Review on 🚴 THINVIK Clipless Pedal Adapters for Shimano SPD-SL System Pedals - Universal Platform Converters for Road Bikes by Jeff Long

Great concept but tricky to shoot Shimano 105 PD-R7000 SPD-SL

EDIT: (3-19-20) The company contacted me and offered to send me a replacement because they are of it were convinced. works with my pedals. I received the item maybe 3-4 business days after I gave them my address. This time the pedals were very easy to install, but removing them was a big problem. I don't have the strength to take them off with my hands. They recommend using a tool they don't provide. Luckily I had a small spare hex wrench and that helped. Still a cool idea for people who commute or stop and bike around town and don't want to constantly snap and unbuckle but also want to do more gran fondo rides, clipless pedals existed and their efficiency makes more sense. The platform has a diamond pattern that provides a good grip, however, the SPD-SL pedal is quite small to start with, so it cannot be compared to the width of a traditional platform pedal, but it is more stable than you. I tried riding SPD-SL pedals with normal shoes. All in all I probably should have just gotten dual platform SPD pedals since I ride 60% city and 40% grand fondo. The SL swaps the pedals for platform pedals at any time and at a reasonable price. However, they do not fit my new Shimano 105 PD-R7000 SPD-SL pedals. At first I thought it might be the tension on the pedals, but they were already set to their lowest setting. However, fitting my cleats to the same pedals was not a problem.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Security
