In my application, I wanted to connect the device directly to this connector and not use the cables that came with it. This connector can be easily disassembled to gain access to internal connections. In my application, I connected this connector directly to a 12VDC to 5VDC converter after removing the existing wires with a solder stick. This allowed me to make a direct connection to the DC converter pigtails. There was also enough room in the connector for me to tie the cable from the DC converter inside the connector, which prevented stress on new connections. So far, this connector works great with a DC/DC converter.
