These pieces of wood are strong, good thickness and large enough for large coasters or decorations. I've used them for mini paintings and they held the markers very well. I have bought other wood discs in the past but if I need to buy more in the future I will most likely choose these. Yes, they leave little bits of bark depending on how you handle them, but there's very little mess initially and they're not easy to knock off. It was really exactly as described and came with everything that was stated in the description. The pre-marked holes were particularly nice - you have to look for them, but that's a plus if you're not using screws. However if you decide to use screws they are very easy to insert and mine proved to be very securely fastened in the wood washers with no risk of them falling out easily.
