Review on 🌟 Glow-in-the-Dark HATCHBOX 3D PLA Filament - 1kg Spool by Jarom Bulles

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great stuff, great price. Beautiful glow!

A friend stole a roll and thought it was great too. The glow is pretty impressive if you have a cheap UV laser pointer. I've seen a glowing complaint here, but as someone who often works with glowing materials I can tell you that unless it's part of a nuclear reactor or glowstick, you won't get a better glowing material than this. This stuff glows pretty close compared to the strontium europium paint you get from United Nuclear (the only good supplier of glow paint I've seen, Rustoleum sucks). It's pretty bright if you're actually in the dark. I've had great success with this 3mm fiber on Lulzbot Taz 5 and 1.75mm on QIDI and CTC (Makerbot twin extruder clones). The layer adhesion is excellent at 209Β°C. No significant deformation occurred with this material. I usually use Buildtak or PEI film on the Taz 5. I will say that the 3mm reel becomes brittle towards the end and can break due to the high winding tension at the end of the spool. I have successfully made great sounding ukuleles and guitars found on things using this material. Cheap and cool! On my fourth roll and have been playing with it for about a year.

Pros
  • 1 kg roll
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
