This coffee maker is like no other. No wonder it's in the Design Museum. I would like to highlight a few highlights: 1) It is made in Italy from high quality, durable stainless steel. Read other reviews and find out how many people have owned this product for 20 and 30 years. You have to weigh up whether the (sometimes quite expensive) Chinese competitors have this durability. 2) As this is a classic design that has been around since 1979, replacement parts will always be available. This is very important when making an investment like this. 3) The device is closed with a clamp. As far as I know, this is unique. Torn threads or defective seals after years of use, which can occur with devices that have been screwed together, don't stand a chance. 4) Coffee doesn't squirt on first pour, a welcome relief from a device I've had from another manufacturer. Yes it was a lot cheaper. 5) I grind coffee beans in drip mode and it works great. I just get the finest sediment at the bottom of the cup, way better than a french press. Grinding or bagging the coffee too fine will result in disappointing results. 6) Low heat is the best way. The brewing time is about 5 minutes. Water moves more slowly through the earth, extracting more flavor. An added bonus is that the bottom of the coffee pot does not stain. 7) When the coffee starts gurgling at the top, remove from heat and pour in. Leaving it on the burner longer will brew the coffee, but the flavor won't improve. 8) After washing the pot, run a paper towel over the bottom inside rim (which collects moisture) to ensure it is dry and avoid rust or corrosion. .I've heard that some people just put the soil on the burner for a few seconds and dry it thoroughly that way. 8) Most importantly, the coffee is absolutely great - no metallic or burnt taste I got. from any other moka pot I have. I'm a coffee lover, I have about 10 coffee machines - Alessi for 3 and 6 cups - and many others that make coffee in different ways. I placed it at the top.
