Review on Canon EF 85mm f1.2L II USM πŸ“· Lens: Perfect for Canon DSLR Cameras - Fixed-Focus Excellence by Stanislaw Was ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I expected mediocre quality, but the product was pleasantly surprised.

For FF: Sharp from 1.2 in the center, sharp around f/4 at the edges. I took it instead of 135/2, which I have already regretted several times. IMHO his tasks: - full-length and half-length portraits, in which he shows himself very well; - shooting in low light. An example of my use of this lens is here: Got pros: Aperture, color reproduction, high contrast, good (but not perfect bokeh), low HA level. Compared to 50 / 1.2L, it is noticeably sharper at all apertures. Some cons: VERY slow (I have II version) - suitable only for leisurely portrait shooting. (due to its slowness and low depth of field, I can hardly shoot small children) Up to f / 2.8, the edge of the frame is soapy (for portraits outside the studio, this can be a minus). IMHO, it is not suitable for a facial portrait in any way (the focal length is not right, it’s still better to take a fix of 200 / 2.8 for these purposes). Minus in bokeh - "cuts" the glare. Personally, I really don't like it. The main disadvantage, however, is the price.
