Lots To Fix: Kids Bikes & Accessories

If you are considering buying this bike primarily because it is the cheapest 14 inch bike you can find then I can guarantee you get what you pay for. My biggest issue with this bike is the amount of time and modifications it took me to get it together. Don't expect to just take it out of the box, tighten a few screws and you're done. Kicking is also more difficult. It's a fairly simple customization, but it took a lot of fiddling to get it right. Also, the bolt holding the front brakes was welded off-center and crooked. I had to take a pair of pliers and bend them to center them on the wheel for the brakes to work properly. This bike also comes with handlebars (which are for the right side only) that make rev noise when turning. I tested it before putting it on and it worked, but as soon as I tightened it to the handlebars it broke. I ended up having to disassemble and repair the entire sound assembly. It would be a great pain for someone else. The bike should come with a spare handlebar grip in case someone doesn't want to fit this cheap part. The rear tire needed air and the front tire was completely deflated. Make sure you already have a bike tire pump! I'm very good with tools and a keen DIY enthusiast, but it ended up taking an hour to align, fix and test everything. I think it's still a good first bike if you can get past all the fixes and alignment issues. Time will tell if the noise persists and if the training wheels stay put.
