The same day it was delivered I took it outside and installed a tank and fired it up. It takes a minute or so for the propane to flow through the hose and then can be ignited. The pilot lit up and as soon as it was getting full fuel it stayed lit. It functioned as advertised as I ran it through the settings. I did get a strong smell of burning paint as it was burning in on the first usage. I recommend burning it in outside on high for about an hour. I used a smoke/CO detector to see how well it burns. The first burn in set off the smoke detector briefly but the CO detector did not alarm. I will use a smoke/CO detector whenever I use this inside a structure. I will also cover it to keep out sawdust when not in use and when I store it to allow a clean start up. This unit does the job.
