Review on Japanese Donabe Ceramic Casserole Earthenware by Lora Schnabel

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Cheap Quality Donabe Dish Disappoints

I was expecting more from this "authentic" Japanese casserole dish. As my tests showed it didn't evenly distribute heat and resulted in an unevenly cooked meal .The only pro is THAT it`s aesthetically pleasing. Unfortunately, it doesn't hold up to its promise of being a durable and functional piece of bakeware for the home and kitchen. Save your money and invest in a more reputable brand..

Pros
  • Great for slow cooking and retaining heat.
Cons
  • Not suitable for high heat cooking methods like searing or grilling.
