Eliminates the rattling in the water pipe after flushing

For years I had a very annoying rattling in the water pipe every time I flushed the toilet. The noise is tolerable, but the big problem is how much damage it can cause to pipe joints. In the end I decided to do something about it. My choice fell on a Sioux Chief 660-TK mini resistor. The part comes with minimal instructions but there is only one way to install it. Turn off the water, flush and empty the toilet, unscrew the supply line to the toilet. Screw in the mini resistor. You want the extended part under the toilet not to be visible and not to tip over. Then reconnect the power line to the mini-resistor. Turn the water back on and check for leaks. You don't need teflon tape or putty as there are washers on the mini resistor and water line. Tighten by hand, then turn an additional 1/2 turn with a wrench. Don't overtighten. Installation was quick and easy. The only problem was getting to the plumbing - the toilet is in a separate part of the bathroom and there is a small gap between the walls and the toilet. Most importantly, the water hammer stops knocking. It works.

Cons
