SKIP to end of story if you want a short story

Seems to work, but not quite. Leanently would do it again, but you might be better off buying a key from your dealer and asking them not to program it unless you want to pay $$ (a few bugs that could be user error). I noticed that these keys were slightly longer than the factory ones. And slightly shorter in key areas. The goal was to reprogram an old model car that I own. I made an attempt to a local place that had a coffee grinder. They said they didn't guarantee they would make a working copy. I wanted to see what they can do. Waste of the first keychain. I haven't programmed the buttons yet. Since this is not possible without first copying the keys. I tried to take the second key to the home depot because. they have an automatic. IF your key has a chip, it CANNOT be made by their machines, or any other computer chat can detect that the key copied has a chip in it. Figured it out in the long run. (Although that makes sense, I just wanted to see what could be done) I drove on and drove to the nearest dealership for my car. I waited a few minutes and was taken to a person on duty. Ultimately his husband couldn't make a duplicate because he would be liable if it broke by accepting THIS non-Insignia key fob. (also makes sense). However, they told me about a third party that would create a duplicate. I go there and they make a copy. It seems to work, but I've compared it to the original and again it's slightly different in thickness and length. This causes problems when inserting a spare key into the car and turning on the starter. UNTIL HE TURNS AND UNLOCKS ALL DOORS, TRUNK AND SWITCHES ON IGNITION. It's definitely a challenge to open all the doors and the trunk. USING Duplicate WILL NOT START MY CAR YET, it makes it splash. Makes a real attempt to start the car BUT DOESN'T.
