I use this product as a wired access point. Well, something like that. It is connected to a router that also serves as an access point. Another old router does not have 5GHz capability. Setup is pretty easy. As Wavlink recommends, it is set up with a fixed address assigned by the main router (what I call "mother") and a separate connection frequency. Since all devices have the same SSID but use different channels, I can tell which one I'm connected to by the broadcast channel. The Wavlink hotspot is in the garage but on the "outer wall" of the room, separated by 1 1/8 inch drywall and 6 inch rockwool wall insulation. Network speed tests at 5 GHz consistently return 90+ Mbps on a 100/100 Mbps system. The 2.4GHz band delivers about 1/3 the speed, which is quite enough for my needs.
