Review on 🌐 Ultimate Linksys EA9500 Tri-Band Wi-Fi Router - Fast, Powerful & Stylish Black Max-Stream AC5400 MU-Mimo Wireless Router for Home by Michael Mendoza

Revainrating 2 out of 5

This is intended for the novice end user. Advanced features are installed by default and are useless

This router is priced based on its speed and capabilities. What I failed to do was study the possibilities and limitations before buying. This is MY fault, not Linksys. I'm an application developer by trade and I'm used to programming for large corporations with stupid security systems. searched. As much bandwidth as I could afford. That's all. I have many Wi-Fi devices scattered around my house. Between wife and kids, smart devices, security cameras, tablets, phones, and Alexa everywhere, I needed to transfer as much data as possible and still stream some 4K movies. This is where I went wrong. I assumed yes I said assumed this router was like any other router I've ever owned. Default settings out of the box and leave it up to the user to configure something here or there. no . A business. This router is clearly made for the novice end user. The UI is bubbly and limited. There aren't really any advanced features, and for me the reverse switch is the guest network. I will never allow a device on the main network that I don't personally know. This includes Roku, Alexa, Samsung TV or any other smart device. Path to many vulnerabilities. Even our phones are in the guest network. There is NO NEED to ever allow access to a computer from an unknown source. JE! However, the guest network for this router is not secure. Yes, unprotected! Not a very good situation for me as I want my private home to remain private but won't break any agreements as long as I use a strong password right? Not right. if you want to use it, you have to go to the website and register. Not suitable for Smart TV, Roku, Alexa or other devices not connected to the internet. Scrap metal. This device is not for advanced users. If you need a departure from Linksys features, you're out of luck. There is no expert mode here. This fancy expensive router is now an access point (bridge mode). And my old Netgear still works until I can replace it with a new one. Overall, this device works as promised. The speed is close to the specified limits. The range also corresponds to the declared. The show is great for me. There are no cons other than the ones I mentioned in my review above. If you're okay with the limited security feature (please don't!), then it's a good buy. If you prefer to be as secure as possible, then this router is NOT for you. -Ron.
