Review on πŸ”Œ D-Link DIR-632 Wireless-N 8-Port Router: Discontinued by Manufacturer but Still Packs a Powerful Punch! by Troy Meza

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The setup is confusing, but other than that it works great.

Yes, the installation is quite confusing. Mainly because the day I got this my ISP was down for maintenance (D'OH!), so the whole time I was trying to set it up I thought the router was the problem. That being said, they should have some sort of automated thing that picks subnet masks and IP addresses and whatnot for you. It was a HUGE pain in the ass to set up. Mainly because I'm not a techie. I am what you would call an "average consumer with a little more computer skills than a beginner". Also, small antennas are garbage. They are thin and keep falling off. If you have to use Wi-Fi it's not too noticeable, but I've been moving them around all over the place and I'm afraid they might just break someday. and reliable internet as long as your ISP can. As well as some nice advanced features. But it's lacking in many areas that would take it from a "good router" to "cool tech as hell". -------------------------------------------------- ------ ------ Edit from 06/10/2013 I just wanted to update that it still works after a little over half a year. Wi-Fi is actually pretty cool, despite the weak antenna. There were a few glitches where my internet went down, but 9 times out of 10 it was Hughesnet and the rest of the time it was some kind of connection error or something like a fixed terminal update. What I believe was Huhesnet's fault.

Pros
  • Nice package
Cons
  • Requires an outlet
