Keeps going back to open authentication

Initial review: It took forever to arrive and the wizard didn't work. I had to configure manually by going to IP address. When I entered the language was set to Russian. It was fun. Now everything works fine. 02/28/2015 updated review: I am sending the router back and had to pay $29 shipping (it sucks). The router keeps reverting to open authentication for the wireless network. If I press the reset button, it goes back to Russian. It has a European power adapter with a US adapter. When you snap

Pros
  • High support and durability ratings from testers
Cons
  • Flawed

This D-Link DIR-632 works well for my purposes. When my old 802.11b D-Link didn't work with the new iPod Touch I got for Christmas, I started looking for a new router. None of them had enough ethernet ports for my needs, and most of them didn't have a USB port for a printer. Most highly rated WiFi routers have been dual band routers, which I don't need as I don't have any devices that can use the second 5GHz band. A dual-band router significantly increases the cost of a wireless router. Then I…

It's been a month and everything works!

(03/04/12) I saw some bad reviews and some good reviews so decided to try my luck as I really needed some extra ethernet ports. I have 2 phone lines, 2 TVs, a network drive and a computer connected via Cat5 cables and have had no problems for 24 hours. Easy Install requires you to install the software first. I was too lazy to get my laptop (drive) from the top floor and decided to do the manual setup with a netbook. It was quick and easy. In addition to the 6 devices listed above, I have a…

Didn't even last a year!

I had an old Linksys Wireless-G router that worked for 5 years but due to buying new wireless devices I decided to upgrade to Wireless-N. I chose this router because it seemed to give me the best bang for my buck and had decent product reviews. Well, last night I was sitting here talking to a friend when my connection just dropped. I did the usual steps (turn modem and router on and off) and nothing. I bypassed the router and connected my desktop PC directly to the modem and was able to…

D-Link DIR-632 N Series 8-Port Wireless Router

I bought the DIR-632 after reading dozens of reviews and personal testimonials on Amazon, cnet and others. It was the best road compromise I've personally explored. It has a long range; So far I'm getting 98% signal in the farthest corners of my house, 40-50 feet from the router and up one floor. It drops to 75% to get through 3 walls but still has very good connection/transfer speeds. It was very easy to set up (although the instructions aren't clear, you do NOT need an internet connection to…

5 Star Routers in Routers

I switched from a Belkin wireless router with a G 4 port to this D-Link wireless router with an N 8 port. Setup was easy. I use 6 wired connections including a VOIP phone connection and a wireless one. I love the expandability that the 8 ports offer. Wired is always better in my opinion. .That was always a problem for me, regardless of the router. A simple D-Link setup worked great! If I plugged the cat5 modem into the correct port on the router, everything would go very quickly. Lesson…

The setup is confusing, but other than that it works great.

Yes, the installation is quite confusing. Mainly because the day I got this my ISP was down for maintenance (D'OH!), so the whole time I was trying to set it up I thought the router was the problem. That being said, they should have some sort of automated thing that picks subnet masks and IP addresses and whatnot for you. It was a HUGE pain in the ass to set up. Mainly because I'm not a techie. I am what you would call an "average consumer with a little more computer skills than a beginner"…

Pros
  • Nice package
Cons
  • Requires an outlet

8 ports, no waiting. Where are all the sailors?

Ha! Very funny, isn't it? Hey, this thing has been dropped a few times since I bought it, but I can't complain. In 3 months of use, the connection was lost maybe 2 times and restored with a quick reset. I have two TIVOs, a multimedia PC, a Wii, a Slingbox, a smart receiver and a Blu-ray player. These are 7 things that needed an internet connection, so my problem with an unused port was solved perfectly. I almost never use the internet functions of a receiver or Blu-ray player, but what good are

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
