This demolition pump works surprisingly well and is easy to use. I've used cheaper ones that work once or twice and then die or fall apart - this one seems pretty well made. The construction is all plastic with a Teflon tip and metal shaft - it's one piece and won't open for cleaning, but the solder seems to fall out immediately after use. Soaks up a good drop of solder at a time and is held in place easily with a soft foam ring. Buy this for a pump - the wick seems a bit cheap and I don't think it contains flux - I had to add flux before it would soak up solder. I had an old Radio Shack wick coil that worked much better and I was hoping it would be the same type but it doesn't work that well. However, it can be used if I add some flux to the solder I want to remove. All in all a good value pump that beats the really cheap ones but clearly doesn't compare to a good Hakko desoldering gun.
