Powerful pump, fewer clogs! Two wicks for free!

The suction power of this pump is the best I have ever had. I've used one of the blue unspecified stainless steel pumps before and it clogged badly. At the moment this pump works about 100% better and clogs less. Still needs cleaning from time to time but not as often. It also doesn't need to be emptied as often. I'm actually glad they come with two wicks because my wick just ran out when I started my last project and I hadn't ordered one. Overall VERY impressed with the pump and the brand.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Everything great

Good value for small desoldering jobs

I've been using it long enough to benefit from it. As with many solder removers I've seen, both big brands and cheap, the suction tube is too wide for the metal piston. That means the suction power is lower than it could be. There are some workarounds for this, using tape and silicon grease. Larger jobs require a larger puller but cannot be armed with a single thumb. You need two hands to push the plunger. I have an old Edsin Soldapult for big jobs. I bought one of these 30 years ago with a…

Outstanding - Breaking Wicks

Originally I was an electronics and computer specialist since the late 70's. When I ordered this teardown kit I didn't have high hopes for the quality and when it arrived I was surprised at how solid the quality is. The wick/braid is what you would expect from a braid, but the pumping unit is top notch for a small hand held soldering cup. All parts fit well with no play and the suction power of the piston is much stronger than I expected or hoped for at this price point. I've paid way more over

I love this soldering cup

So that's how it works. It has a plunger that moves forward and locks into place. There is a button on the tube, and when you bring the tip close to the solder hot spot, press the button; This causes the plunger to rebound and create suction. I looked everywhere the solder is kept and found nothing and was very discouraged until I pushed the plunger again; pushes the solder out, it soaks it up so fast it doesn't spread, I've got this solder filament I just pulled and it's coming out straight. I

Excellent quality suction cup

There's a headline you don't see every day. and expect the same. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the suction cup is very well made, with a smooth plunger, comfortable grip and very good suction. I am very happy with it. The desoldering braid supplied is wide, flat and very tightly woven and appears to be of good quality as well. Unfortunately the only situation I tried to use it in was very tight with tight leads where it just wasn't right for the job. I expect this to work well in more

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • Volume

This article seems to be durable. The two rubber seals inside work very well. If you place your thumb on the end and press the button, the piston will stop halfway and hold the vacuum until your thumb is released. I've used this quite a bit and it works great. I half expected to have to take it apart every few times to clean it. But it cleans itself pretty well if you press on the plunger to cock it. Most of the solder that is pulled out is pushed back out of the nozzle. So if you cock it after

Broke after a few uses

I don't normally write reviews of the Revain but I felt it was necessary for this unit. multiple use. I had to throw this device away because I couldn't figure out how to get the spring mechanism working again. After several attempts to fix the device, I decided to throw it away. Also, the "Shutter" button is located at the very top of the pen, making it difficult to use. For example, one hand uses a soldering iron and the other hand uses a solder sucker; When the switch button of the solder…

Decent Demolition Pump - Dubious Wick

This demolition pump works surprisingly well and is easy to use. I've used cheaper ones that work once or twice and then die or fall apart - this one seems pretty well made. The construction is all plastic with a Teflon tip and metal shaft - it's one piece and won't open for cleaning, but the solder seems to fall out immediately after use. Soaks up a good drop of solder at a time and is held in place easily with a soft foam ring. Buy this for a pump - the wick seems a bit cheap and I don't…

Avoid this plastic mess at all costs.

Media could not be loaded. This demolition pump is by far the biggest piece of junk I've ever bought from Revain. It worked fine in my hand three times after taking it out of the box but the first time I tried to use it to desolder some connections it fell apart in my hand and that was it. A small screw on the side opposite the trigger has so little contact with the plastic housing of the frame that it cannot hold the spring tension and housing together. I tried tightening the bolt a bit, but…
