Review on πŸ’‘ Coast HP1 190 Lumen Pure Beam Focusing LED Flashlight in Sleek Black Design: A Powerful Lighting Solution by Justin Goff

Revainrating 5 out of 5

98% are satisfied. Very good flashlight for everyday use, reliable functions, good battery life and workmanship.

Haven't long tested this Coast HP1 yet, but it works with a battery I removed from another unbranded EDC flashlight that had the LED already flickering (meaning the battery is dead). No Name Chinese Lantern (usually sold in bulk) cannot be compared to this one. I ordered 3 and only tried one. The switch works reliably every time, which was not the case with flashlights from other brands. The spotlight is a wide, round beam, evenly distributed, and works well out to about 5 meters away and up to 15 meters where you can still see. The focus illumination reaches about 25 meters. The processing quality is very good. The clip is too hard and looks like steel. This works but will chew on your tissue. Stippeling is aggressive and comfortable - just fine. I have a feeling the battery will last a long time but haven't tested it in detail. This is an EDC light, not a rescue search light. It's a lot brighter than my similarly sized no-name lights (don't buy no-name or regular lights, buy these instead, even if you pay a little more - it's worth it). It illuminates an area of about 20 meters, but certain small objects, such as snakes or other small dangerous creatures, can only be detected at a distance of 5 meters with a searchlight. However, it does illuminate everything in the area well, making it perfect for nighttime hikes when you want the general area lit up. IMO the focus mode could be left out as Spotlight would be the most useful. The glass is conical and set deep in the lantern's head (so it can be used as a damage object in case of an attack. No, why didn't they do it with tactical teeth). Just buy this instead of the others and everything will serve you as a general EDC light. Best of all, you can use it with rechargeable AA batteries. I recommend this - don't buy other expensive ones as this is a waste of money. The lumens they claim seem true, but in my opinion the half-depleted battery I put in puts out about 100 lumens, which is even brighter than other inexpensive no-name brands. A general purpose EDC flashlight is good for a range of 5 to 15 yards. UPDATE 6/25/2019: Surprisingly, Revain allowed this review. Recently, Revain tends to dismiss any negative product reviews. So expect to read only positive reviews. This makes all reviews unreliable. Any review must be considered censored, biased or fake a priori by Revain itself. Unfortunately, ratings are no longer recommendations. All my negative reviews on other products have been deleted, so draw your own conclusions. The rest of the Coast HP1 has performed satisfactorily so far. It tends to yellow light, especially when it's focused, and its headlight doesn't spread as far as the normal one I've ordered before (which hasn't fitted so far, it's a Switch). I wish it had a little fewer emitters and a little more concentrated light. However, it is very good for close-up shots at around 1 meter, but you won't be able to see details (e.g. venomous snakes) much further than 15 meters. . However, when it was solid, it worked. This is a brand new alkaline battery and when cold the switch would flash the flashlight when briefly turned on. It is strange. The Focus throws a beam up to 50 yards and it's sort of incandescent like the old 4 element Maglites (bulbs) and it's very nice. Up to 10-15 yards can be clearly distinguished in headlights, but no more. Unfortunately the switch may not be as reliable as I thought as it has given a hint 3 times so far that it doesn't light reliably - which is unfortunate as this could be a very better EDC flashlight if they fix this problem. UPDATE 13.07. 2019: If the light isn't on, then the battery. At some point, the battery will be discharged (the performance will decrease) and the flashlight will not turn on. Just dead. Put in a new battery or charge it and it turns on. If the light flickers slightly when you press the switch, this is a sign that the battery is running low. It survived a 1 meter drop onto concrete. So the best EDC flashlight I have and Coast takes very good care of their customers. The light color is yellowish, getting lighter at the edges, but is a perfect circle. This is a quality flashlight (do yourself a favor and don't buy cheap wholesale unbranded Chinese flashlights) that is reliable enough for defensive EDC use, as the flashlight will turn itself off when the battery reaches a certain level of discharge. You can carry a spare battery with you. The battery lasts 1 week or about 30 minutes with occasional use. The light will gradually dim as the battery drains. According to the YouTube video, the light bulb is a genuine Cree product. I highly recommend this brand and model.

Pros
  • CLEAR BEAM FOCUS: Zoom between ultra wide flood beam or spot mode with transient halo at different distances and brightness levels.
Cons
  • Slightly dented
