Review on 🏠 QNAP TS-231K Dual 1GbE Port 2-Bay Home NAS by Jeremy Rodriguez

Entry-level NAS with good features, but NAS migration configuration is not supported

UPDATE: DO NOT BUY IF YOU PLAN TO MIGRATE YOUR DRIVES! I contacted QNAP support and now I know I was robbed! It turns out that even though I used their "NAS migration" (a retail feature) the old file system is "unsupported" so I migrated to a brand new device which they don't support until I reformat it (what I did) . try to avoid migration in the first place). iSCSI is not working properly and I have no hope of a fix after they declared the configuration as unsupported! ***************************** *This is my second QNAP NAS. My TS-219P has served our small business well for over 10 years. Credit has to be given to QNAP for honoring the lifetime support guarantee and providing constant security updates. I upgraded to a TS-231K (when they stopped releasing security updates for my 219P). With twice the memory and a quad-core processor, everything looked great. Again, to the credit of QNAP, I could migrate by simply moving my drives there. However, this is a SLOW download. It takes 4 minutes to apply firmware updates and then 14 minutes to reboot. It goes beyond "a cup of coffee”! The download is quite slow, so you need to think twice about applying each firmware update.
