Review on πŸ”Œ Frost King RC60 Black Heating Cables, 60 Feet by Aaron Moore

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I've found that a timer is often as useful as a temperature sensor for work

I've had several of these devices and have installed them for clients as well. They are not industrial grade, but for the price they are quite good. I've found that a timer is often just as useful as a temperature gauge. They work best when it's snowing to melt the snow in the gutters (they also need heat tape), not after. Sometimes when a very strong fast storm hits them, they don't completely melt the roof because the snow "overlaps" them and they form an 8 inch tunnel around the cables. For reference, they use 5 watts per foot, so they affect your electric bill. I use them sometimes when the sun hits the roof since Colorado nights are usually well below freezing and these cables don't work below 10f.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Lots of things
