Be careful with that.

Before installing I connected a cable to make sure it is not DOA. I left half of it unwrapped and it melted into a giant ball in about 15 minutes.

Does the job although not cheap

I have a story about a 2200 square foot house in Connecticut. I ended up using 660 feet of this cable to cover roofs, gutters and downspouts as instructed and used them as instructed. So far this winter (now February 16th) we've had significantly less snowfall than previous winters when, despite using my rake properly and tightening up the attic insulation, I still managed to have ice dams. and water damage. I didn't drive to the roof rails with these cables, but I didn't have any frost or…

Didn't work very well

I don't usually write reviews but after several emails to Frost King customer service I was forced to comment. The picture speaks for itself, the outside temperature was 33F and the cable warmed up for 5 or 6 hours, I wasn't impressed with the cable's performance. The Frost King support team was absolutely terrible at their job after instructing me to read the manual, which I had already done. The support team was very reluctant to answer my question and didn't answer the 2 questions I had…

I've found that a timer is often as useful as a temperature sensor for work

I've had several of these devices and have installed them for clients as well. They are not industrial grade, but for the price they are quite good. I've found that a timer is often just as useful as a temperature gauge. They work best when it's snowing to melt the snow in the gutters (they also need heat tape), not after. Sometimes when a very strong fast storm hits them, they don't completely melt the roof because the snow "overlaps" them and they form an 8 inch tunnel around the cables. For…

Works well, good price

I have a roof and gutter area that is shaded during the winter months (on the north side of the house). In cold weather, gutters freeze and ice can form on the roof. I have installed a Frost King heating cable in the downspout, gutter and over part of the roof and it works very well to melt or avoid hard ice in the gutter and to clear ice blockages on the roof. I ordered additional hardware because some reviews stated that the included mounting hardware might not be enough. I had no problems…

COMPLETELY FALSE ADVERTISED - NOT 'AUTOMATIC'

Revain's description of this product (Frost King RC30) includes the words 'Automatic Electrical Roof Wire' which, in any reasonable, professional or ethical manner, means that the heater The product contains an internal Thermostat to turn the product on and off, which has been the standard for over 30 years. The RC30 heats up the moment it is plugged in and requires a wall switch or external thermostat to control it, a very misleading false advertisement whilst other brands make the controls…

Do you have a frost leak on your roof? + TIP

SHORT VERSION: If you have dripping water from the ceiling due to ice on the roof, I recommend this product as one of the solutions. This is the cheapest and quickest way to solve the ice problem. A picture is worth a thousand words so check out the pictures to see how it worked on my roof. LONG VERSION: There is nothing worse than hearing/seeing water dripping from the ceiling in the kitchen, living room or bedroom. You can find more information about an ice dam, but most of it is due to…

De-icing cords are worth every penny

Almost everyone (where it snows) needs roof de-icing cords as they protect your roof, your home and your people. bit heavier than others and this brand works well. Potential Icing Problems (No Cords): I've seen many cases where people without cords to protect them from icing have serious problems: icy sidewalks and porches, icicles falling on people or breaking a basement window, damaged gutters, ice dams, in addition, water collects under the clapboards causing leaks or roof rot, water drips…
