I only bought it to polish my favorite but commonly used Nepali Khukuri (incorrectly called Kukri in the West). I've found the finishing edge works great on all types of edges, especially convex edges. After experimenting with Sharpal, I also found that it reprofiled the edge quickly as well. This saves a lot of time when using a coarse stone or some kind of mechanical grinder. While it's certainly NOT the "only sharpener you'll never need" this is the best carbide sharpener I've ever seen and is definitely worth having. you are in the field
