Flaps/magnets won't stay closed, major draft and moisture issues, BASIC HOODS

I got these a few months ago for my 11 year old German Shepherd Beagle mixed breed dog (approx 70 pounds) bought ). and 25-26 inches tall at the shoulder). He has arthritis in his elbow joint and arthritis in his spine which makes his hind legs a bit weak but he is still very active and walks well. I spent about 3 months waiting for my landlord to fix some back door and sill issues due to water damage. They failed badly and I was sick of waiting so I finally got it fixed last weekend. The installation went well, the instructions are simple and there are many videos on YouTube. My biggest problem with the installation is that next time I would do everything differently. I had to install on an already installed door. The door has some water damage but is very difficult to open and close as the frame itself is water damaged, rotted and very crooked. If I were to remove the door to install this there is a good chance it would never open again. It also fluctuated between 6 and 18 degrees. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND tracing the template on BOTH SIDES of the door (yes, there's a good chance they won't match exactly), but drilling the hole in the evening didn't go through both metal sides of my door, which required later installation/assembly dreadful. My door is very thin metal filled with foam. Although the drill remained very stable and the built in leveling knob was used, 6 of the 8 holes drilled were far from the outer surface. I then tried to use a jigsaw to cut since I don't have a grinder with a cut-off wheel. My 9 year old 1.25 kerf jigsaw died (smoke and flames) within an inch of cutting. So I had to go out and buy a new one (using better quality Bosch wire with more metal blades and 1 and 1/8 cutting depths. It didn't let me cut through the entire door on both sides, so I only had to cut on one side, and it was extremely difficult to follow the line or control the line this way it sucked but i got the job done cos the bolts weren't even back to front even with extra drilling and it took over 30 minutes pushing everything together, pushed by hand, and even then they a) don't fit properly on the frame and b) the magnets don't fucking work (see photos, there's a 2-4mm gap on the underside of BOTH flaps, so that the wind and cold air is just blowing through! I know the flaps will be less adjusted to current temperatures (it's a 6F to 28F range this weekend) but I'm EXTREMELY disappointed with w how bad it is closing! things when he really wants to, and he's learned to walk through a magnetic screen door in under a minute. This was more of a challenge for several reasons. So far I have to persuade him to go through by lifting both doors or he won't try to get through. He hesitates, barely lifting his hind legs. The opening is perfect for him, but the 6.5 inch step he has to climb is difficult for him due to joint problems. The flaps are also pushing really hard, so he doesn't have the confidence to do it on his own just yet. I will post updates on his progress but I know it will be slow. At night I push the shutter in. When I take it out, a lot of condensation drips onto my floor, and due to debris on the doors, a puddle collects in the door. . I don't have a humidifier downstairs where that door is, but I'm not keen on all that humidity. 1/20/18: Within 24 hours my dog was in and out by himself. He'll never leap over it like a gazelle, but he's doing a great job, just taking the time to bend all his legs to get over the edge. For some reason, getting out is a little easier than getting back in. This was now in the 40's and 50's and the wings aren't that rigid but definitely don't close and the magnetic ground bars don't do anything - always big gaps. I can try some aftermarket magnets, but in general the manufacturer should take responsibility for this serious defect.
