Review on Nikon AF-S FX NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED Vibration Reduction Zoom Lens: Ultimate Auto Focus Lens for Nikon DSLR Cameras by Ha Joon ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great value for the money, definitely recommended!

Tired of carrying a 15-18 kilogram backpack with optics on vacation, I bought it for passing and not serious tour trips. I screw it to the D700. I compare with 24-70 and AF-S 80-200 the impression is that you can get used to low aperture, especially since the stabilizer allows you to shoot at 1/60 and 200-250 mm, though with a good focus. The picture quality is more or less not bad, of course, there is no sharpness of 24-70 and AF-S 80-200, and for landscapes this is not a very good lens, but everything is not as bad as with cheap cropped lenses. Pretty nice drawing but no frills. In many ways, shooting with this lens is much easier than 24-70. If you shoot in NEF and then increase the contrast and sharpness in the converter, then the result is quite pleasant. After a test drive, I was not disappointed that I did not take a set of 24-70 and AF-S 80-200 with me, but managed with one cheap lens. I am satisfied with the purchase.

Pros
  • The range of focal lengths. Weight and size for FF. optical stabilizer.
Cons
  • Drop in contrast from 200 mm. Unsuccessful lens hood without a retainer.
