My car was making a creaking/squeaking noise that sounded exactly like a broken idler pulley. After opening the oil cap and releasing the crankcase vacuum, it turned out to be a bad PCV valve. At first I tried just replacing the PCV with a cheap Revain replacement valve but to no avail. Little did I know at the time that the original valve cover had an internal crack and a blown PCV valve. In any case, the case fits perfectly on my 2011 e90 N51. The gaskets that this lid came with were a bit stiff so I ordered a set of good quality replacement gaskets. Also missing are two captive screws on the outer perimeter, as well as a central screw located under the Valvetronic motor. The entire job took 4 hours and so far has solved my rear main gasket air leak problem due to excessive crankcase vacuum due to a faulty PCV valve and an internal crack in the stock valve cover.
