I started buying fresh coconut from the local market so my kids can drink coconut water and I can make coconut smoothies. I've tried many different ways of opening a young coconut by watching countless YouTube videos and some of them have featured a similar device. So next I bought. I used it a dozen times and gave up, going back to my cleaver again. Pros: 1. Looks good, nothing has broken yet2. Does the job, albeit quite messy - pulp and coconut water are flying all over the place. Cons: 1. Not designed for different size coconuts. There's a natural edge around the coconut head, and you can use a cleaver to hit it until you find the head. This is done with brute force, resulting in loud pops and squirts of pulp/coconut water everywhere2. The angle given in the instructions seems wrong, the angle used in the youtube videos seems better although it's still quite messy. I was considering sending it back, but since it works and I've found a few uses for the rubber mallet, I'm leaving the set for now. I recommend you the cleaver method (lots of youtube videos on this), now that I've opened 100 young coconuts I can do it very easily. My only advice is to cut off the pulp at the top so you can easily find the edge of the cap.
