Review on πŸš— OE Spectrum Passenger Car Shock Absorber Monroe 5968 by Alex Prince

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Efficient, cheap and easy to repair.

I drove over a bump and lost my rear view. it's time for new rear shock absorbers. The shock absorbers I replaced turned out to be original and were completely removed. Pretty simple build. I didn't even bother with the jack. On a convertible, get into the back seat and simply pull back the top cutouts on each side of the car (they just fit over the rounded screw heads that hold the tack on the convertible top). Using a wrench or vise, loosen the nut at the top of the bolt. Loosen nut and screw from below. Pull the bolt out and the damper will actually fall out. When mounting, it may help to bend the "ears" of the bracket outwards a bit (1/8" should be more than enough). They retract as you tighten the nut and bolt, but when with them open a little, the bottom of the shock will slide in more easily.Speaking of which, if you haven't jacked up the car, you'll need some muscle power to push the shock into the top mounting hole just enough for the bolt to go through the bracket and that's for sure.

Pros

Cons
  • There's nothing here
