The trick is to learn how to work comfortably without using the angle guide. Once you put this into practice you can add the sharpest edges to any flat blade you have. . However, cheaper knives lose their sharpness faster. You will quickly recognize which knives should start at 1000 or 6000 and master the angle and sharpening technique. The instructions that come with it suck. But just search the model on YouTube and you will find many videos on how to create surgical instruments with this tool.
