This filter is amazing. In our small farmhouse we pump spring water from the subsoil. Even with the 5 micron sediment filter, our water still had an extremely strong metallic smell/taste. Almost like sucking a penny. The water also left a rusty iron paint in the shower, sink and toilet. After much research it turned out that a $1,000 or more backwash system with special reverse osmosis was the only way to remove the metal/iron. Being a recreational property, we just don't use the cabin enough to justify such an expensive/complicated filtration system. I found this filter and couldn't believe it was supposed to target metals like iron and magnesium. I thought for $44 it was worth a try. Bought a new two-channel filter housing at home and installed it. The water first enters a 10 micron sediment filter and then flows into a canister with that filter. After a few days, our water is flowing clean, with no metallic taste or odor. As a deer hunter, a watchless shower is a must! We are very pleased with the performance of this filter. This saves us literally hundreds of dollars!
