It works! But maybe a little buggy with laptops. Audio sharing is questionable

So it's been literally decades since I've had a KVM switch. I think the last one I had was one of the newer USB switches and the previous one had PS/2 ports. Ah, memories. However, I can't recall ever using a KVM switch with a laptop before; a few desktops yes, but no laptop. And that for two laptops. So yes, the KVM switch works, but also yes, if you're using the monitor as an extended display for your laptop, it will override every time you switch between them. For example, if you have browser or application windows open on both the external monitor and your laptop's monitor, when you switch to the next laptop, all windows are placed on your laptop's monitor because the laptop no longer recognizes the external display. Monitor. And if you set an external monitor as the primary monitor, all windows will appear on the external monitor when you switch back to the laptop. In other words, your environment doesn't stay the same when you switch between laptops. Not sure how it would be with two desktop PCs. So this can be a showstopper if you need the same environments when switching between computers. It used to be just two desktops with 1 monitor, 1 keyboard and 1 mouse so I never had to deal with extended/dual displays. But I think if you're duplicating screens instead of extending them then it's not a problem. So it depends on what you need it for. I have not tried this with a wireless mouse or keyboard. Update 05/07/2021: It turned out that the common microphone adds a loud buzz. Sounds like a short circuit rendering the mic useless for anything; Yes, you can be heard and understood, but it's annoying as hell. That's a really bad buzz. It could just be a bad block so I've ordered a replacement and will update accordingly. I've done all sorts of troubleshooting and it's all back to the KVM side. Update 05/09/2021: The replacement came pretty quickly! Unfortunately, this also hums, both in the headphones and in the microphone. So these are two devices with bad sound. I'll try to contact support but at the moment I don't see any other way unless they send me a third device. The KVM part works fine, but the audio sharing between the two computers doesn't work. Other than that, it works great! Update 05/11/2021: After contacting support and troubleshooting, the solution was to plug the USB sound card (I had one) into one of the USB ports on the KVM and then plug my headset and mic into there. So it's actually a workaround, not a solution. The original audio problem persists. But support was kind enough to send me a USB 3.0 hub to work with KVM (since I need a different port to connect my keyboard to), so I will continue to use this KVM with a USB sound card attached. The cost of a 4-port USB 3.0 hub is the cost difference between this KVM and another brand that doesn't offer audio sharing. there is a problem). And support will do their best to take care of you.
