The tricky part of swapping disc brake rotors on a bike is figuring out which adapter to use. Descriptions for each adapter sold online are rather sparse. In fact, the exchange is quite simple. This adapter allowed me to adjust the position of my Avid BB7 caliper to change the rotor from 160mm to 180mm at the front of my bike. I had IS mounts on my bike's front fork and removed the existing adapter and installed the new one. I have a torque wrench so the bolts can be tightened to specification. I then replaced the rotor attached to the wheel hub with a larger one. I adjusted the caliper to rotor alignment using the CPS mounting bolts with conical washers per Avid's instructions and I was good to go. Watch a YouTube video on adjusting the BB7 brakes if you haven't already, it's easy. The cable adjustment does not have to be touched.
