Review on Panasonic KX TG4500B Expandable Cordless Answering by Dana Johnson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very good business phone for ONE person

After examining existing corded phones, this model stands out from the rest. The two features that attracted me to this phone are MUSIC HOLD and CALL RECORDING. Two features I couldn't find on other phones in the same price range. What I love about this phone. + MUSIC HOLD > This phone came with ONE pre-recorded music track that I wasn't particularly interested in. You can also record your own music by connecting the cable (supplied with the phone) between the 35mm audio jack and the headset jack on the bottom of the phone. You can only record ONE track and I think the cutoff is around 3 minutes. It's a bit tricky to get the HOLD MUSIC sounding right. Due to phone cable limitations, your track can't contain too much bass or be too loud or it will sound awful on the other end.+ CALL RECORDING > You can record any outgoing or incoming call. The recording is then saved as a voicemail message. What I don't like about this phone.+ COST OF OPTIONAL WIRELESS > The phone comes with ONE corded phone with base and a cordless handset with base. I paid $350. An additional phone is $250. This equates to approximately 70% of the purchase of a new kit. Very dissatisfied with the cost of any other wireless device.+ PLAYBACK OF VOICE MAIL/RECORDED CONVERSATIONS > The ONLY WAY to play back your voicemail messages or recorded conversations is through the phone speaker on the base of the main unit. There is no way to listen to recordings through the headset. This is not a problem if you work alone and independently. But think of it differently! I only had a chance to play with this phone for a few hours today. I will update this review in a few months.
