Review on Celestron 21048 PowerSeeker 80EQ Telescope by Nick Grays

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good quality telescope and adjustment/mediocre stand

Disclaimer: This is my first non-toy telescope. Pros: The picture I got from this telescope was great. At the lowest magnification, the moon barely fit in the field of view, allowing craters, mountain ranges, and other lunar features to be seen clearly. Initially, the moon did not even appear round, as the mountain ranges are clearly visible on the visible edges of the moon. The telescope settings are well put together and very solid. The stand is pretty cheap in comparison. This can sometimes make observation difficult as the telescope will shake violently at the slightest touch. that due to the high magnification any wobbling is extremely noticeable. I would like to note that this is a very minor complaint and if I could it would be a 4.5 star rating, not 4. Not the best option for younger users. Due to the high magnification, it can be difficult to align the site accurately enough to use unless you practice doing so first. And when the page is off, it's almost impossible to point at anything other than the moon. I spent almost an hour training it on Mars (which is closest this year).

Pros
  • Holding my fists
Cons
  • Commercial availability
