Only buy this if you are ready to buy a Telrad Finder Sight

This is a great little scope for beginners. You can see the rings of Saturn and the bands and moons of Jupiter. However, the viewfinder area is completely useless. Spend an additional $50 and purchase the Telrad Finder Sight. This makes finding things a million times easier and saves you a lot of frustration. The Barlow lens is also completely useless. The telescope can't really zoom in enough to get the Barlow lens in focus, so don't even bother using it.

First telescope at a good price

First telescope for me. I live in a suburb about 20 miles north of Manhattan, lots of light pollution. I was impressed with the ease of setup. For the first time I was able to get a good view of the moon. I hope to leave this area soon and search for other objects. I bought a T-adapter and a T-ring and am hoping to get some shots with my DSLR. I also bought a new eyepiece, 9mm, to use in place of the supplied 4mm, which is probably not a good accessory for this scope. I also find the supplied…

Good quality telescope and adjustment/mediocre stand

Disclaimer: This is my first non-toy telescope. Pros: The picture I got from this telescope was great. At the lowest magnification, the moon barely fit in the field of view, allowing craters, mountain ranges, and other lunar features to be seen clearly. Initially, the moon did not even appear round, as the mountain ranges are clearly visible on the visible edges of the moon. The telescope settings are well put together and very solid. The stand is pretty cheap in comparison. This can sometimes…

Good for the price. for reflectors

In general, the purchase seemed to me to be successful. Disappointed with the fact that the picture is upside down, contrary to some of the reviews I've read. Both with a 90° angle and simply by looking straight ahead, reversed image. The spotting scope is very difficult to adjust and does not hold "zero" (not even with an inverted image). I've found that it's easier to straighten the telescope while looking straight through the tube (without lenses), and then use lenses of gradually increasing

Great beginner scope for adults or families that can teach older children how to use. It's a bit more difficult to use an equatorial mount than the simpler alt-azimuth mount, but you'll need to learn how to find faint objects with the Polaris mount and star maps. The 80mm lens is a good size for the money and delivers good, clear and sharp images ranging from stunning views of the moon and some planets to nebulae. use fasteners. It is very worthwhile to learn. I recommend a video on YOUTUBE on…

Impressive at first glance good for telescopes

This is the perfect scope for this price range! The entire assembly is moderately heavy. The tripod legs aren't very rigid, but tightening the top screws helps a lot. My first order had to be replaced due to some metal shavings on the back of the lens. I was initially impressed until I saw the shavings but I have to say that my replacement got rid of my negative attitude towards the product. The EQ mount is solid and tracks very well at 180x magnification. The replacement came quickly and…

Large selection for beginners.

So I was looking for an astroscope for my kids. It's been decades since I've carried my Newtonian reflector around and when I dug it up in the garage I just didn't want to do the work of taking it out of the ledge and shaping it. Online reviews of basic Celestron oscilloscopes, including a rather scathing review of this one, but I went with it anyway because it looked like the price couldn't be higher for an 80mm refractor. I was afraid, but I had nothing to fear. The optics are great, very…
