About 2 months after installation my oven stopped working. It worked for a few minutes and then shut off. The mechanic came out, saw the filter and said that was probably the reason. He explained that 3M gives people "maximum filtration," but the filter causes airflow to be too restrictive and the temperature sensor in the oven to overheat, causing the oven to shut down. Everything else was fine and has been working fine since the replacement, so that seems to be the reason. He also mentioned that this is an even bigger problem with AC as it can freeze the coils and actually damage the device. However, I was amazed at how dirty the filter was after only two months. My old filter didn't look as dirty after a year (because it doesn't filter as hard anymore). Thus, this filter does a very good job of filtering out dust and particles. If it's working well for you, I say go for it, but check back regularly and think about it if you run into problems. It should be noted that I still had problems after replacing it with a clean filter (Filtrete), so it wasn't just that the filter was dirty. Channel a little to get it in the slot. He explained this by saying that the 3M filter is 16 x 25 x 4, while my previous filter was actually 25.75 x 15.75 x 3.75 despite having "16 x 25 x 4" printed on it. So I can't blame 3M for that. Just be sure to measure your slot and don't just buy the "same" size you're replacing.
