I used them to cut a solid handle. The standard for solid cranks is 1/2" threads, and most aftermarket pedals are 9/16" threads. I took the crank off my bike, drilled it into a vise with a 1/2" drill bit, and rethreaded it with coolant and a crescent wrench to turn the faucet. shavings and everything will be fine. I would suggest ORDERING a 33/64" drill bit from them. It's the right size and even with several large sets of drills I didn't have one. You can get by with a 1/2" drill bit, it cuts threads very slowly, even if you first remove the crank from the label on the left and right side of the wheel so you don't doubt yourself. My 9/16" pedals fit like a glove Plant!
