Ideal for threading aluminum cranks without removing them from the bike.

This is awesome! The flat guide and the long cone leading to the threaded part make these taps easy to use without removing the cranks from the bike. I used them to thread a vintage system to match the standard pedal threads instead of the original French pedals which are 0.5mm smaller but have the same thread pitch.

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • Some problems

Like Jewelry on Sports

They are beautifully made. Like jewels and as sharp as possible. The guide grooves help start straight, but a large amount of cutting oil or other lubricant is a must. If you're just cleaning an existing thread some bike lube works great, but if you're cutting new threads use cutting oil. These taps are ideal for aluminum cranks but require extra care and attention when working with steel. When tapping a new thread, you should always turn forward about 1/2 turn and then back 1/4 turn to clear…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Minor issues

HOZAN C-401 Thread Cleaner Tap Right & Left Overview

I used them to cut a solid handle. The standard for solid cranks is 1/2" threads, and most aftermarket pedals are 9/16" threads. I took the crank off my bike, drilled it into a vise with a 1/2" drill bit, and rethreaded it with coolant and a crescent wrench to turn the faucet. shavings and everything will be fine. I would suggest ORDERING a 33/64" drill bit from them. It's the right size and even with several large sets of drills I didn't have one. You can get by with a 1/2" drill bit, it cuts…

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Some bugs
